چکیده

Dunkl operators are differential-difference operators on R which generalize partial derivatives. They lead to generalizations of Laplace operators, Fourier transforms, heat semigroups, Hermite polynomials, and so on. In this paper we introduce two systems of biorthogonal polynomials with respect to Dunkl’s Gaussian distributions in a quite canonical way. These systems, called Appell systems, admit many properties known from classical Hermite polynomials, and turn out to be useful for the analysis of Dunkl’s Gaussian distributions. In particular, these polynomials lead to a new proof of a generalized formula of Macdonald due to Dunkl. The ideas for this paper are taken from recent works on non-Gaussian white noise analysis and from the umbral calculus. 1991 AMS Subject Classification: Primary: 33C80; Secondary: 43A32, 33C50, 60B15, 82B23.

Macdonald Functions Associated to Complex Reflection Groups

Abstract. Let W be the complex reflection group Sn ⋉ (Z/eZ) n. In the author’s previous paper [S1], Hall-Littlewood functions associated to W were introduced. In the special case where W is a Weyl group of type Bn, they are closely related to Green polynomials of finite classical groups. In this paper, we introduce a two variables version of the above Hall-Littlewood functions, as a generalizat...

A second addition formula for continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials

This paper provides the details of Remark 5.4 in the author’s paper “Askey-Wilson polynomials as zonal spherical functions on the SU(2) quantum group”, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 24 (1993), 795–813. In formula (5.9) of the 1993 paper a two-parameter class of Askey-Wilson polynomials was expanded as a finite Fourier series with a product of two 3phi2’s as Fourier coefficients. The proof given there use...

A Combinatorial Formula for Non-symmetric Macdonald Polynomials

We give a combinatorial formula for the non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials Eμ(x; q, t). The formula generalizes our previous combinatorial interpretation of the integral form symmetric Macdonald polynomials Jμ(x; q, t). We prove the new formula by verifying that it satisfies a recurrence, due to Knop and Sahi, that characterizes the non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials.

Applications of Macdonald Polynomials

s for Talks Speaker: Nick Loehr (Virginia Tech, USA) (talk describes joint work with Jim Haglund and Mark Haiman) Title: Symmetric and Non-symmetric Macdonald Polynomials Abstract: Macdonald polynomials have played a central role in symmetric function theory ever since their introduction by Ian Macdonald in 1988. The original algebraic definitions of these polynomials are very nonexplicit and d...

Combinatorial Formulas for Macdonald and Hall-Littlewood Polynomials

A breakthrough in the theory of (type A) Macdonald polynomials is due to Haglund, Haiman and Loehr, who exhibited a combinatorial formula for these polynomials in terms of fillings of Young diagrams. Recently, Ram and Yip gave a formula for the Macdonald polynomials of arbitrary type in terms of the corresponding affine Weyl group. In this paper, we show that a Haglund-Haiman-Loehr type formula...
